Washington-based non-profit research organisation International Council on Clean Transportation (ICCT) Friday said Maharashtra was second in terms of electric vehicle (EV) sales in the country.

Uttar Pradesh led EV sales, contributing 19 per cent of the national total, followed by Maharashtra (12 per cent) and Karnataka (9 per cent).





Amit Bhatt, Managing Director, ICCT, told The Indian Express that Maharashtra recorded approximately 2.3 lakh EV sales in 2024.

Further, with 3,728 public charging stations, Maharashtra accounted for 15 per cent of the national total.

As per an ICCT statement, Karnataka led this segment with 5,765 public charging stations, accounting for 23 per cent of the national total, followed by Maharashtra (3,728) and Uttar Pradesh (1,989).

Delhi and Tamil Nadu rounded out the top five in charging station installations.
